Top Five Reasons You Might Need an Art Coach in 2024
Art coaching is a unique partnership between two creators, making it a perfect opportunity to develop creative skill sets that a standard life coach or teacher may be unable to help with.
Here are the top five reasons you may benefit from hiring an art coach in 2024:
Skill Development: As your art coach, I can assess your current level of technical skills and help develop an improvement plan that we can work through together. Whether that’s drafting skills like figure drawing, still life and perspective drawing or maybe illustration skills like storytelling, character design and composition - as an art coach, I can help you reach your technical goals.
Creative Block: If you’re stuck in your creative practice or have a fantastic project idea you don’t know how to bring to fruition, I can help you get unstuck! In addition to creativity and imagination-building exercises, I can work with you to establish a plan of action and timeline for your dream projects. And when you hit those inevitable roadblocks, we can work through them together. Having an outside eye on your project is a huge benefit!
Portfolio Building: If you’re ready to apply to art school or for an illustration gig, it’s an immense benefit to at least have artistic eyes on your portfolio before you send it. But I can also help you improve and build up a portfolio once we’ve looked at it together to determine the gaps. I can provide specific project recommendations or accountability check-ins if you need some creativity coaching to help you work through the gaps in your portfolio. Together, we’ll get your portfolio from zero to hero!
Artistic Direction: With so many possible artistic paths and directions you can pursue and an overwhelming amount of visual data fed to us each day in our social media accounts, it’s really challenging to pick a realistic direction for your art making. From amateur to professional artist, I can help assess your interests and skills, help you develop a unique artistic voice, and pinpoint what value you bring to the dream clients or opportunities you want to pursue. This can provide really valuable guidance on where we should focus our journey, too!
Start from Scratch: Even if you’re a complete beginner artist, an art coach can still absolutely serve you! We can walk down a path of analyzing your interests, exposing you to new ways of making and developing a plan of attack for building skills. Ditch those vague step-by-step art books and work one-on-one with a practicing artist to learn techniques and creative projects. Try some of everything or focus on a specific creative niche. It’s your journey, and I’m just helping you along the way!
